Child Care Providers - AdobeStock_168875

What role can child care providers play?

Outside of the family, no one has more contact with young children than child care providers. Your relationships with children and families are unique – especially when you care for children over a significant period of time.

You model behaviors for children and families that they may adopt at home, from demonstrating empathy to showing how to provide physical care to setting boundaries.

You have a unique opportunity to engage your families. Since you are most likely seen by parents as an ally, your feedback or referrals to families may be more likely to be welcomed and accepted.

We know that some of the ideas in this website may not be applicable during the COVID-19 pandemic when social distancing is required. We have still included these ideas as we hope this website will be used long after the risks of COVID-19 are no longer present.
